Study on Inflammation-Inducing Ability of Polymorphonuclear Leucocytes Extract

Abstract
The experiment was carried out to ascertain whether there exist certain specific substances inducing immediate inflammatory responses in polymorphonuclear leukocytes extract comparing with that of liver tissues extract.
The inflammatory responses were assayed by standardised histopa.thologic examination of the sites of injection, 2 , 4, land 2 hours later respectively after intradermal injection, and by trypan blue-test for increased capillary permeability, with following conclusions.
1. The extracts of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and liver tissues are all proved to possess ability of inducing inflammatory responses. However, the former is significantly more powerful than the latter.
2. The inflammation-inducing ability of the extracts of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and liver tissues is slightly diminished after heatingat 60C f¢¥or 30 minutes, but almost lost after-heating ar, 70C for 60 minutes.
3. The inflammation inducing substances mostly belong to globulin fraction.
4. Extracts of polymorphoruclear leukocytes and liver tissues are all proved to possess a¢¥oility of increasing capillary permeability. However, the former is significantly more powerful than the latter. The substances which increase capillary permeability in both extracts are stable to heat for 60 minutes at 70C and mostly belong-to globulin fraction.
The author would like to state his view on inflammatory response obtained from his results that leukocytic accumulation in inflammatory lesion might be d~~ue to inflammation-inducing substances. released from injured tissue, but mainly due to that released from polymorphonuclear leukocytes. damaged by noxa.
